On Caring For Sacramento Contact Lenses

By Nancy Gardner

Contact lenses require the wearer to obtain a prescription outlining the type to purchase even if they are not meant for correction of vision. During physical examination of the eyes, the optician checks for astigmatism, hyper myopia, myopia and general eye health. Your visual strength will also be tested before prescription of Sacramento contact lenses.

In the process of their insertion, the first step should always be washing of hands. They should be adequately dried after that. Then, with your dominant hand, hold the tip of the lens with your index finger and bring down the lower eyelid.

The pointer finger is also used to elevate the lid at the top besides holding lenses. You should look up at this point and place the lens in a gentle manner on the lower side of the sclera. The pointer finger is then removed and the lid released. After doing this, the eye should be closed for a moment to give a chance for the lens to be centered.

The process of taking them off starts with washing the hands too. They should be thoroughly dried thereafter. You should then look up and pull down the lower lid using the middle finger of the dominant hand. The index finger is then used to access the lenses on the lower part. It is then slid down the sclera and squeezed between the thumb and pointer finger. Be careful during the removal process.

The disposable ones are meant for a single use. This saves you the hassle of cleaning and storage of other types of contact lens. However, the processes are not that hard as long as the instructions provided by the professional are followed. There are solutions in the market designed for use in soaking, rinsing, cleaning, and conditioning, disinfecting and removing proteins from lens.

For comfortable and healthy contact lens wear, they have to get cared for on a daily basis. The procedure involves placing commercial cleaner drops on each on the lenses sides and rubbing gently for about twenty seconds. This is followed by thorough rinsing for about five minutes with a rinsing solution prepared commercially

In storage, they are soaked for at least four hours in the cleanser solution. The solution is never to be reused. It should be discarded immediately after use. After doing all this, you can go ahead and put on lens again. If you notice any remaining debris, just rinse them before inserting them into the eyes.

If you are not going to wear the lenses immediately after soaking, store then in a closed case designed for this purpose. They should not be stored in a saline solution. This is not a disinfectant. If they are not going to be worn for a considerable period of time, they can be stored in a closed case. If thirty days go by without them being used, the next time they are worn they have to be cleaned and also disinfected beforehand. Reusing a cleaning solution does not give effective results. The cases they are stored in should be replaced on a monthly basis.
